Human Resources Manager!
This role is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced HR Manager who wants to join a professional team where the AFI values of integrity, safety, quality, and community guide our decision making and employee interactions. The Human Resources Manager partners with the plant leadership as they drive our HR strategy and initiatives within our largest hardwood flooring facility. This opportunity serves as a key leader for a unionized 650 person plant located near Elkins, West Virginia. In this role you will have responsibility for staffing, development, employee and labor relations, and proactively identifying and implementing practices that continue to drive employee engagement and improved plant performance.
In this role you will partner with the Plant Manager to ensure the Human Resources strategies and initiatives are tightly linked to the objectives and key challenges of the facility and the business. You will actively engage with the workforce, partner with the leadership team on strategic plant initiatives, build and maintain effective relationships, and provide coaching to all levels of the team. The position reports to the Senior HR Manager, Hardwood Manufacturing and is part of a broader group of HR professionals within manufacturing and corporate that work together to support one mission of creating innovative solutions that inspire spaces where people live, work, learn, heal and play!
Lead and direct plant HR activities to support the achievement of plant performance metrics in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Employee Morale.
Active collaborative participation on the plant leadership team, providing HR guidance and input on operational plans, activities and decisions.
Demonstrate leadership in areas of employee health and safety.
Track and analyze HR metrics to determine root causes then develop and execute action plans to address problem areas.
Lead labor relations activities, including CBA negotiation, administration of grievance process, interpretation of contract, and coaching supervision on consistent application of plant policies and practices.
Ensure the execution of key plant HR initiatives and processes to drive continuous improvement in the areas of organization effectiveness, staffing, employee relations, performance management, training and development, benefits, employment practices and compliance.
Ensure plant HR administrative processes are effective, efficient and service oriented.
Maintain a forward looking staffing plan that aligns with operating strategies.
Engage in practical and rational employee relations including investigations, discipline, coaching and counseling of employees.
Support organization change efforts and collaborate with plant leadership to ensure successful application of change management tools and concepts.
Provide counsel and coaching to employees at all levels of the organization on a wide range of professional and personnel matters.
Develop and drive initiatives to build employee engagement.
Lead, direct and develop an HR team.
Ensure compliance with all EEOC, AAP, FMLA and ADA requirements. Other Responsibilities :

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or a related field
5+ years of progressive HR experience, in a multi-shift, unionized, manufacturing environment, including leadership of HR associates
Substantial business acumen along with expertise in the core HR disciplines
Strong knowledge of applicable employment and labor laws
Comprehensive understanding of the link between HR and business strategy
Strong Union/Labor Relations experience
Strong written, verbal, analytical and presentation skills
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Process Improvement methodologies
Ability to communicate, interact and influence effectively at all levels of the facility Desired Qualifications:
Prior operations management experience

With approximately 17 acres under roof, our Beverly Plant manufactures solid wood floor products and is the largest Kiln facility east of the Mississippi. It is one of the larger employers in the area with over 600 employees working multiple shifts in manufacture and shipment of our wood flooring products.
