Armstrong Flooring, Inc. (AFI), has a job opportunity for a Finish Line Production Supervisor to be located in Beverly, WV. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Finish Line Production Supervisor needs to effectively manage and motivate a team of about 25 people responsible for producing hardwood flooring products. The Finish Line Production Supervisor will achieve excellent results through coaching and team development, effective schedule optimization, and identification and implementation of new and improved processes. Additionally, the Production Supervisor will work closely with a multi-functional team in driving process improvement and cost reduction initiatives using innovative tools such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and equipment optimization. Key Responsibilities of the Production Supervisor:

  • Leading the daily activities of the assigned production crew on one of our manufacturing lines

  • Managing production schedules

  • Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws

  • Training current and new employees

  • Planning, assigning and directing work as well as appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complains and resolving problems

  • Spearheading a safe working environment

  • Promoting the effective utilization of equipment, materials and people

  • Maintaining the daily production numbers in order to meet budget constraints in a safe and efficient manner

Required Qualifications for the Production Supervisor:

  • 3+ years of production supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong management and leadership skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse group of employees

  • Excellent working knowledge of safety and environmental practices and regulations, including OSHA compliance

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Willingness and ability to work occasional Saturdays or off shifts

Desired Qualifications for the Production Supervisor:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

  • Previous Project Management experience

  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies

  • Solid mechanical knowledge, including machine operation, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance

  • Union experience

It is one of the larger employers in the area with over 600 employees working multiple shifts in manufacture and shipment of our wood flooring products.
