General Duties: The 6:1+3 program provides a more intensive classroom setting for students who demonstrate challenging behaviors within a school. The program aims to provide students opportunities to participate fully and functionally in classroom and school activities and in special area classes. The teacher for this program is the team leader and classroom manager. The teacher is the lead support for the students and manages lesson plans and academic progress as well as organizes and works with classroom and personal aides to contribute to the overall well-being of the students in the classroom. Some job duties may include: Reviewing and implementing all educational requirements in each students' IEP Establishing and monitoring individual curricula, data collection, and behavior charting systems Creating and implementing behavior management plans Providing a safe, age-appropriate educational environment Administering appropriate and effective instructional strategies Participating in transitioning students to less restrictive settings, as appropriate Coordinating and collaborating with aides, related service personnel, and behavioral support teams Demonstrate professional knowledge of students with developmental disabilities
