Koniag Professional Services is actively seeking a dedicated, experienced, and motivated Environmental and Safety Manager to oversee and enhance the environmental and safety operations at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center located in Charleston, SC. This vital role is responsible for the comprehensive management and coordination of environmental and safety operations under the contract, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental regulations.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in upholding the highest environmental and safety standards, safeguarding the well-being of the workforce and the plant, and enhancing the training and preparedness of law enforcement personnel.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborative Leadership: Serve as a key member of the KPS Management Team, actively participating in bi-weekly meetings with Technical Representatives and the Contracting Officer to ensure seamless coordination and communication regarding quality control matters.

  • You shall participate as a key member of the KPS Management Team with the Technical Representative(s) and the Contracting Officer bi-weekly.

  • You shall ensure compliance with Safety and Environmental Requirements. You shall direct all work and develop the plans to ensure compliance with all fire/safety and environmental regulations, which includes National Fire Protection Association, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and Federal, State and Local environmental/safety regulations.

  • You shall develop, direct, and approve all reasonable steps and precautions to prevent accidents and preserve the life and health of Contractor and Government personnel performing in any way under this contract. The Contractor shall perform safety site visits on all jobs.

  • You shall develop, update, and monitor the Disaster Preparedness Plan. The plan must include in advance how it will meet mission requirements in the event of mobilization, natural disaster or labor disputes. KPS must be able to react to such events without undue delay. Sudden or unusual events could result in a great negative impact upon performance and contract requirements.

  • Shall possess 5 years of recent (within the past 10 years) responsible experience in field management of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety/Health Administration (OSHA) Regulations.

  • Should have demonstrated skills and knowledge in implementing environmental/safety programs.

  • Shall have proficiency in oral and written communications in English.

  • Shall have basic computer skills including the ability to input data into the system and generate various reports and correspondence as required.

Requirements

  • DHS Clearance Required.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License. (CDL is a plus)

  • AHERA Asbestos Inspector training and Hazardous Waste Site Operation training must be completed within 6 months of acceptance of position.

Education:

Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field such as:

  • Environmental Science or Engineering

  • Occupational Health and Safety

  • Industrial Hygiene

  • Safety Management

Pluses:

  • Master’s Degree in relevant field outlined above.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

  • Certified Environmental, Safety and Health Trainer (CET)

  • Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven experience in Quality Control Management, preferably within a government or law enforcement training facility.

  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, performance monitoring, and compliance standards.

  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Office Location and Travel:

  • Duty Station: Charleston, SC. Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Campus.

  • Occasional travel may be required to other FLETC campus sites and/or to KPS HQ located in Chantilly, VA

Working Environment & Conditions

50/50 Mix of Office and outside fieldwork. Field work may be over moderately rough terrain and may occur during inclement weather. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit or stand, walk, climb stairs and through industrial equipment areas for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
