Description/Job Summary

Supervises, with assistance from the shift supervisor, a total of 10 to 20 employees in Production. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Is an extension of the supervisory authority and, with guidance, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

II. QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or up to one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous production experience is a must, preferably in an injection molding environment. The associate must have the ability to run all injection molding machines and have a strong understanding of the utility position.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Outlook).

Basic SAP is preferred as daily use of SAP may be required in this position.

IV. AUTHORITY/DECISION MAKING

None, except with assistance from Shift Supervisor.

V. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

A. JOB TASKS & DUTIES

Remains highly visible on the shop floor, coordinating assignments of all production personnel.

Assigns work locations and tasks. Responsible for proper staffing of the production lines.

Schedules breaks and lunches for production personnel.

Ensures that all manufacturing orders are completed on time.

Ensures that all products produced meet all quality standards and customer requirements.

Assists with ensuring efficient labor and machine performance is met and maintained.

Oversees and participates in line clearance events and follows the "Line Preparation and Clearance" procedure.

Makes job jackets for new production orders.

Assists with the training of all levels of production personnel and ensures that training records are created and updated as required.

Gathers data and generates production reports.

Coordinates problem solving/rework efforts (communicates with technicians and the shift supervisor).

Provides guidance for performance requirements.

Assists with personnel performance management issues and progressive discipline if warranted.

Ensures that cases are labeled correctly, in the proper sequence, stamped with an operator/packer stamp, and are stacked properly on pallets as defined in QAS (Quality Assurance Standard) for the job that is running.

Refers questions to the Production Supervisor.

Notifies the Production Supervisor of discrepancies in regards to product packaging, product counts and product labeling.

Notifies the Production Supervisor of any potential inventory shortages related to the supplies required to perform the job at the machines within the assigned work area.

Manages time and priorities with moderate direction.

Ensures that all work areas are maintained in a neat and orderly manner (floor must be clear of parts). Includes disposing of regrind parts and trash correctly.

Ensures production personnel adherence to company policies and procedures, maintaining a safe, well-organized, clean and productive work environment.

Participates in 5S projects as required.

  1. Fingering, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.

  3. Feeling, perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

  4. Talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; via face to face or telephone.

  5. Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.

  6. Repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

D. VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

Keep in mind that color, depth perception and field of vision is pertinent to requirements.

  1. Machine operation, inspection, close assembly, clerical and administrative duties.

  2. Machine operation and skilled trades; use of lathes, drills, presses, power tools to see where a job is at, or within, arms reach.

  3. Mobile equipment operations; operate cars, trucks, buses, fork lifts, cranes and high lift equipment.

  4. Other criteria based on accuracy and neatness of work.

  5. Position requires individual to differentiate colors, depth and perception.

  1. Inside environmental conditions protected from weather conditions, not necessarily temperature conditions.

  2. Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to be heard above the noise level.

  3. Subject to vibration, exposure, fluctuating movement of the body.

  4. Subject to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemicals, gases, high heat or explosives.
