Armstrong Flooring, Inc. (AFI), has an opportunity for an Accounting Specialist/Analyst located in Lancaster, PA. The Accounting Specialist/Analyst will be responsible for general accounting, standard reporting, budgeting & forecasting, compliance & internal control, support and accountability for offshore outsourced associates as well as liaising with Corporate Centers of Excellence (COE) and business unit segments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create, post, and monitor journal entries and accruals
Perform accounting closing activities, general ledger accounting for Corporate COE and Business Units
Communicate with colleagues at various locations to resolve issues and closing discrepancies and follows through with appropriate action
Perform and oversee reconciliation of general ledger and sub ledger accounts
Perform specific accounting duties involving Sales Incentive Program for US and Canada, and Sales Discount Programs
Perform accounting for and manage distributor Gross-To-Net rebate programs including coordinating monthly meetings, forecast, rollover, assist with building the budget, and researching payment and deduction discrepancies
Support Finance and Engineering CapEx actual hours to ensure proper reporting and accounting of engineering expense
Responsible for calculating and analyzing the revenue recognition Warranty reserve consistent with company policy and US GAAP
Collect, consolidate, and submit data for Governmental reporting
Recommend, develop, and implement changes to continually improve processes, support standardization, and the effectiveness of the Finance and Accounting Operations team
Document policies, procedures, workflow, and checklists for assigned responsibilities
Support and provide the appropriate level of oversight and review for activities performed by offshore associates for US Corporate COE and Business Units in accordance with Service Level Agreements
Support business initiatives and accounting guidance changes through project work
Confirm and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures
Provide SOX compliance and audit reviews
Liaise and coordinate with internal and external auditors
- Minimal (<5%)
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
Proficiency in MS Office Suite – particularly MS Excel
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Ability to work cross functionally with other groups within Armstrong.
Ability to exercise independent judgment to ascertain the reasonableness and accuracy of information
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities; must be a self-starter and take the initiative in completing projects and assignments
Excellent written and verbal communications with the ability to share knowledge at appropriate levels of the organization
Customer focused with strong attention to detail and capable of delivering accurate, quality results in a timely, consistent, and professional manner
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to interact comfortably and respectfully with all levels of plant and corporate personnel. Proven ability to successfully manage and resolve conflict
