Water Street Mission Family Engagement Supervisor in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Job Summary:

The Family Engagement Supervisor will lead and train a team of Children's Ministry Coaches in mentoring, modeling, and coaching families, parents, and children as they progress through a personal plan of renewal. The Family Engagement Supervisor will also provide direct services to families, one-on-one coaching with women and children around issues of parenting and family engagement. We are looking for a female to fill this role as WSM's services are trauma-informed and will be stationed in our women and children's department.

FLSA: Full Time, Exempt

Essential Functions:

Culture and Values

• Share the Good News of Jesus Christ in words and actions with people we serve, communicating hope and dignity.

• Walk alongside fellow WSM staff in Christian community as we journey toward maturity.

• Encourage restoration in the lives of coworkers and guests, recognizing we are each restored by God to become restorers.

• Work in full coordination with other WSM staff at all times to identify, report and respond appropriately to any potential threats to the safety and wellbeing of guests.

Role Specific Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee Children's Ministry for families and children staying at WSM (age birth-13 years for boys; birth-18 years for girls). This includes but is not limited to assisting with new family intakes, orienting guests to Children's Ministry, working with children and families in the Children's Ministry room, meeting with guests for individual and family coaching sessions (Parents as Partners), and participating in a guest's treatment and/or discharge planning.

• Support the Family Engagement track and take an active role in action plans of all guests who choose the Family Engagement track.

• Lead the development and implementation of individualized action plans for each school-age child, as well as parent and child assessments.

• Provide training, growth, and connection opportunities for all guests who are parents, even those without children currently under their care.

• Participate in special programs and events in educational/training opportunities as requested or needed.

• Oversee the organization, cleanliness, and safety of the Children's Ministry room.

• Maintain accurate guest information, including reporting and data management.

• Remain knowledgeable of current best practices for child and family development.

• Attend all required meetings and training, such as Multidisciplinary Team, Life Coach, Family Engagement/Children's Ministry Team, Treatment Team, All-Staff, and off-site trainings.

• Remain knowledgeable of and uphold all current WSM policies and procedures.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Supervision:

• Supervise, model, and train Children's Ministry Coaches how to engage children and parents according to each individual's unique needs and background.

• Provide education and skills training to staff on issues of parenting and children.

• Train, schedule, and supervise Children's Ministry volunteers to model and teach skills to families and children at WSM.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree required (master's preferred) in early childhood/elementary/special education, human services, social work with children and families, child/family development, or related field. Minimum of 3-5 years' work experience with children and families, particularly with marginalized or vulnerable populations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required. Ability to work with a clinical database is essential. Bilingual English-Spanish preferred.
