Armstrong Flooring, Inc. (AFI) has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Finance Analyst to be located at our corporate campus in Lancaster, PA. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Manufacturing Finance and supports Finance and Operations Management within AFI with financial analysis, monthly closing, forecasting, reporting, and ad hoc special projects. The position requires a skilled, motivated financial professional with the ability to integrate manufacturing finance with operations performance to understand and drive profitability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform financial analysis, and coordination of a variety of financial support projects for the AFI manufacturing finance organization.

  • Support a wide variety of corporate requests and assist as appropriate in the application of financial modeling in completion of requirements, including manufacturing cost analysis profitability and cost investment analysis (CIA).

  • Evaluate the financial returns and profitability for capital expenditures and cost reduction projects.

  • Partner with product management and operations to determine profitability of new and existing products, manufacturing processes, and raw materials.

  • Conduct manufacturing operations financial analysis, including ad hoc analyses for senior leaders

  • Serve as an interim plant controller, as needed, to support position vacancies across the plant network.

  • Support AFI in the simplification and automation of key analysis using SAP, BI, and Excel based models.

  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvement initiatives to drive simplicity, remove non-value added work and standardize processes.

  • Provide training and process improvement guidance to plant finance staff to develop best practices in financial modeling and use of SAP and BW systems.

  • Coordinate templates and consolidate monthly reporting, forecasts, and budget for manufacturing plants

  • Accountable for accurate budget, forecasts, and monthly reporting on divisional manufacturing costs


  • Up to 10%-20% travel depending upon projects and assignments

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business

  • 3-5 years of progressive financial planning and analysis experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP

  • Manufacturing / Operations experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Customer-focused with strong attention to detail

  • Excellent Excel modeling and PowerPoint skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain flexible in unanticipated, short-notice assignments

  • Capable of working independently

  • Demonstrated ability to simplify and streamline processes, eliminating analytical complexity while retaining the quality and integrity of financials
