    Overview of the Role:

    Accountable to lead, develop and engage the workforce that safely operates, maintains and improves equipment and assembly processes in the execution of the production plan.  Utilizes standard work to plan and direct labor, deliver training, and maximize efficiency.  Apply appropriate continuous improvement processes to improve performance, partner with peers to sustain improvements and engrain in culture. Manage the operation as an owner; with safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and growth (SQDPG) KPI’s.  Proactively supports company policies and strategies.

    Specific Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the team as a servant leader, deriving success from SQDPG delivery and development of employees.

  • Utilize standard work to consistently deliver results, working with support functions and technicians to proactively identify and solve problems

  • Manages team to maximize efficiency, consistently performing processes within designed and documented methods.

  • Reviews and assures that process documentation is being utilized by the employees.

  • Performs timely feedback, coaching, counseling on individual employee and team performance using standard work.

  • Measures and documents employees’ performance and feedback on schedule, develop operators and support certification attainment to deliver goals.

  • Ensures that control is maintained using all documentation and operational work instructions.

  • Problem solves with engineering and planning to solve roadblocks to execution issues.

  • Assures employees are instructed in safe correct way and that they are performing those correct behaviors consistently.

  • Anticipates, plans, and monitors line set-up & changeovers to occur in an efficient manner.

  • Records daily production results to plan.

  • Deploys employees and resources, asks for help as needed to meet daily production plans.

  • Measure and monitor throughput and other productivity results; problem solves and communicate plans to course-correct when below process capability

  • Participates and leads continuous improvement events.

  • Regular attendance is required to maintain the functions of the job

    Other Responsibilities:

     

  • Proactive safety, quality near-miss situation communication.  Correct adverse conditions and work with support functions to communicate new standards.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance

  • Investigate industrial accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities

  • Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes

    Successful Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriately related field preferred.

  • 3 to 10 years of experience Supervisory responsibilities, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • A thorough working knowledge of manufacturing, industrial, construction, and electrical practices. 

  • Good administrative and project management skills. Must be capable and effective at managing several projects at one time and interacting with upper management, shop floor personnel and outside contractors.

  • Strong communication skills proficient with both written and oral formats.

  • Hands on, independent self-starter who acts as an owner on the floor and office settings.

  • Proficiency with PC based applications programs such as Microsoft: Excel, Outlook, Project; Word, PowerPoint.

  • Good analytical skills and capability with respect to utility cost tracking and analysis, and departmental expense budget analysis and maintaining manufacturing systems.

  • Lean Manufacturing / TPM Experience required; six-sigma experience a plus
