Commercial Finance Business Partner

We are seeking a Commercial Finance Business Partner to enhance our Commercial Finance team. This role is vital in supporting our Economist business unit, focusing on improving reporting and analysis to proactively drive subscription volumes, revenues, and profit growth. You will collaborate closely with the Acquisition & Retention teams, Strategy and other support functions, playing a key role in our growth strategy by providing essential finance support and timely, accurate analysis.

In this role, you will report directly to the Head of Commercial Finance. Together, you will work to maintain and enhance the high-performance culture within the Commercial Finance team and establish yourself as a trusted partner to the department’s leadership.

Leveraging your commercial acumen and experience, you will work alongside business managers to develop realistic scenario plans, challenge forecast assumptions, and build and communicate comprehensive financial analysis. This will empower key stakeholders both within and outside the Finance department to make better informed decisions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide finance business partnering to key stakeholders for all matters.

  • Analyse & report on trading performance vs comparatives

  • Financial planning including Budgeting, forecasting and long term planning, including business cases for new initiatives

  • Scenario planning to guide decision-makers by presenting them with a range of potential futures and helping them understand the financial implications of each choice.

  • Work with Leadership Teams to optimise marketing spend to ensure ROI performance is maximised.

  • Preparation of reports and analyses for various board and management presentations.

  • Deliver ad-hoc analysis where required, using ability to carve through data and provide meaningful and in-depth insight to spot opportunities or reduce areas of risk.

  • Utilise all our systems in developing business focused reporting. This includes; G-Suite, Anaplan & Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel).

    Work Experience:

  • Professional Finance qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA) is essential.

  • Experience working successfully with non-financial stakeholders to communicate financial analysis effectively.

  • Strong financial modelling skills, with the ability to model quickly and accurately under time pressure to assess the impact of different business scenarios and strategies.

  • A high level of quality and accuracy is required as the audience of outputs is typically senior executives (including the CEO, CFO and other organisation Leadership Team members).

  • Excellent presentation and business writing skills and be able to convey a message that is understandable and relevant, linking business issues, financial results and strategy.
