University of Louisville Security Guard I (Security Officer Specialist) in Louisville, Kentucky

Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or GED and one year related experience. Valid driver's license. Pay Grade 1.Position Description:The primary responsibilities for the position of Security Officer is the locking and unlocking of university facilities on a time scheduled basis, performing walk through security checks of university buildings, and identifying potential security and safety hazards. The officer will also assist in the monitoring of parking lot facilities, performing motorist assistance, providing escorts upon request and providing general information to visitors of the university as well as the university community. Must have the ability to perform extensive sitting, standing, and walking; to communicate effectively; to operate two-way radios and telephones.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform scheduled locking/unlocking and provide security of University staff.Perform requests for access to University facilities.Perform written notification of security and safety deficiencies.Perform motorist assistance.Perform escorts.Perform parking enforcement.Perform traffic control for special functions.First responder to fire and burglar alarms.Monitor the perimeter and facility activity.Check-in visitors.Maintain a manual access log (visitors to facility).Communicate incidents and/or suspicious events to the ULPD.Communications to initiate appropriate responses. Upon discovery of failure of the intrusion detection or alarm system (i.e., Continuum™ security system) the on-site security officer will initiate a call tree, which starts with notifying the Facility Operations Manager and RO/ARO.Perform monthly physical security checks.In coordination with researchers test emergency call boxes throughout facility.Direct the deliveries to the loading dock from entry to receipt.Oversee the CPM security workstation (Salient & Continuum software) and report issues to the FOM or BSO.Maintain the CPM Security email account.Alert FOM or the Biosafety Maintenance Technician of any HVAC alarms going off in the security office or active alarms associated with facility operations.Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.Equal Employment OpportunityThe University of Louisville is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer, and is committed to providing employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, sex, age, color, national origin, ethnicity, creed, religion, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and expression, marital status, pregnancy, or veteran status.
