DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Barber Instructor for the Department of Corrections, you will be responsible for the supervision of licensed barbers in a state correctional institution or facility. The responsibilities of the position involve assigning work to inmate barbers, providing management training related to barbering activities, and ensuring that operating standards required for barber shop certification are maintained. In this role, you will provide both theory and hands-on instruction while exercising therapeutic care, custody, and control over inmates.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (40-hour work week)

  • Work hours are 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday - Friday.

  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please note, selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,425.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of an active Barber Teacher License issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Barber Examiners.
