POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises and directs the work of Sign Painters, Sign and Paint Maintenance Specialists and other assigned personnel in the Department’s Painting Division.
Department : Mobility & Infrastructure

Salary : $69,143 per year.
Union : This position is included in the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Local 2037 meet and discuss unit and will be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding.

Qualifying Requirements:
Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed, and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status.
WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show one (1) year of full-time professional painting experience which includes one year of supervisory experience. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
EDUCATION/TRAINING : None required.
EQUIVALENCY : T raining and/or work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above). The Total Qualifying Requirement is one (1) year. Supervisory experience is unable to be substituted.

POSITION DUTIES
Supervises and directs the work of assigned personnel in the preparation of traffic and other signs by such methods as hand painting, spray, stencil, computer and silk screen processes.
Directs City personnel completing signage and pavement marking work in the City of Pittsburgh right-of-way by following the latest safety guidance and standards.
Oversees the safe implementation of maintenance and protection of traffic patterns.
Leads painting division internal improvement effort to fully digitize work order process.
Oversees the installation of app roved and/or requi red signage and vertical elements (e.g. bollards, curb stops or other similar elements).
Supervises assigned personnel; evaluates work; recommends and implements approved disciplinary and/or corrective action; provides training and/or technical assistance as requested or required.
Interviews and makes recommendations for hiring of new personnel.
Ensures necessary utility coordination has occurred prior to directing field work.
Directs the preparation of surfaces for painting; oversees the mixing, selection and inventory control of paint.
Directs documentation of installation and materials used through photo documentation and standard asset management practices.
Directs the application of paint to streets, curbs, signs and other required surfaces.
Estimates time and materials for jobs; requisitions and controls supplies, materials, etc.
Interprets and follows instructions contained in traffic engineering drawings, work orders, and procedures.
Assesses current painting shop operating procedures and makes recommendation for improvements on an as-needed basis.
Interfaces with engin eering staff on a regular basis via phone, email, or other means of communication.
Recommends acquisition of materials, supplies and equipment to supervisor.
Maintains records (e.g., time sheets, material costs, Foreman reports, quality assurance/control documentation, etc.), through automated methods and prepares accurate reports.
Plans, develops, directs, coordinates, organizes and controls the materials, equipment and personnel under jurisdiction toward the effective, efficient and economical attainment of program goals, including maximum convenience to the public and safety of employees.
Manages area of responsibility in strict accordance with applicable laws, regulations and established policy including union agreements to ensure fair and standardized treatment of employees.
Performs such other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.
