Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Linux Automation Engineer with demonstrated experience in RedHat Linux administration and Ansible automation in a virtualized environment. If you meet those requirements, then we have an excellent opportunity for you to join our growing team.

A week in the life of a Senior Linux Automation Engineer includes:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Red Hat Enterprise Linux in a virtualized environment with a focus as the lead automation support engineer.

  • Using Ansible and the Ansible Automation Platform, support existing playbooks and create new ones to patch, maintain, and perform configuration management to ensure the security of the Linux virtualized infrastructure.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and correct critical server issues  

  • Create recovery processes for system failures and performance bottlenecks  

  • Effectively learning new technologies added to the environment.

  • Establish and maintain procedural documentation and knowledge articles and share knowledge through training and mentorship of team members.

Job Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance

  • Security+ or equivalent IAT 2 or higher certification

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in Red Hat administration and working on complex systems, software programs, and networks

  • Proficient with Ansible YAML code for security baseline maintenance. 

  • Ability to read/write/maintain shell/python scripting to support automation and maintenance tasks

  • Experience with SVN (Subversion), both command line and TortoiseSVN

  • Preferred experience with container technology (ex. docker, Kubernetes, etc.) 

  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies as added to the environment

  • Ability to lead/mentor people and projects to completion.

  • Ability to resolve complex problems and provide solutions with minimal guidance.

  • Develop process documents (SOPs) for use by fellow team members 

  • Experience managing and mitigating system security risks 

  • Experience with security principles such as DISA STIGs and IAVM system

  • Experience with Red Hat patching process (YUM updates, Satellite) and coordination of patching efforts

  • Experience with monitoring tools and system diagnostics

  • Experience managing RHEL systems integrated with MS Active Directory

  • Preferred experience supporting open-source software solutions such as GitLab, GitHub, SonarQube, Fortify, etc.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks to accomplish goals on a given timeline

  • Virtualization experience using VMware / vSphere

  • Ability to provide general technical support for both hardware and software

  • Ability to support Analysis of Alternative (AoA) exercises

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $160,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
